Well. What a week!

the photos pretty much explain it... i really want to be lazy and not explain my trip... although i have no exuse not to tell u about it. maybe i´m tired from moving in to my new apartment?? maybe i´m lazy??? hehehe.

ok. weds 28th: we drove to madrid (we´d rented a fiat punto), and our hostal was near the plaza mayor where they had over 100 stalls with wigs and party tricks and gags because it was the spanish version of april fools day, the day of the innocents. so i got a few things naturally... hehehe. played a lot of rummy (card game), and bar hopping of course!

thurs29th we dropped ivan off at the airport, then it was just me, alisha, and alisha´s fiancée ryan on the road trip! we went to toledo which was still really really cool! we stayed in the youth hostel castle again which the other two loved :)

fri30th we started a VERY long drive, and on the way we stopped off at my beloved cuenca!!!!! it had been foggy on the way there, and i was worried that the gorge would be all obscured, but thankfully not so!!! yay for all of us!!!! we walked around and had lunch and then started a bendy drive to barcelona. eventually we found our university apartment which i´d snagged over the internet for 2 days, had chinese for dinner, then bed! yay for sleep!

sat31st: NEW YEARS! while alisha took ryan on a guided tour of the sagrada familia church biggggg church thing (which us girls had seen before) i went for a walk around which was nice. we met up at park güell, and then began the drinking......... we had a 45 min walk ahead of us to get back to plaza catalunya/las ramblas, so we bought a can of beer each at every supermarket/store we came across on the walk. i must say, we were sloshed due to not haveing had dinner yet! then drank red wine, ate dark chocolate, and played rummy on the steps of the cathedral. very cool :) then we met up with some ozzies that alisha and ryan had met at the sagrada familia, and we partied it up!!!!!!!! i had my champagne and 12 grapes ready for the countdown (the spanish tradition is to eat a grape on each chime of the bell at midnight), which didn´t eventuate, possible because there were so many people cheering and yelling that we didn´t hear it! i chanted the countdown for our group anyway, and we all had a very merry time :) my last memory of the night was dancing in a forest listening to maroon 5 very loudly :D (don´t worry, it wasn´t a random forest, we had to go thru it to get back to our place)

sun1st: oh what a hangover. at least i didn´t throw up (cough cough ryan). hehe. we drove to girona, and figueres (in hope to see the salvador dali museum but it was closed) so decided to head to the mediterranean coast instead, and thankgod we did because Cadaqués became my 2nd favourite place in the world (after cuenca of course). sooooooo nice, we stayed in a 3 star hotel also (cheap cheap off season!), and it was just magical. we ate pizza and pasta and thouroughly enjoyed ourselves, such a beautiful place!!!

mon2nd: i caught the sunrise (see pic), and then in a few hours we were in the thick of the snowwwww in the pyrenees!! alisha did really well not to crash, it was snowing hard with steep hills and lots of curves. we had lunch and a snow fight in a small village nestled in the mountains, and then crossed the border to andorra (my 6th country in this trip so far (excluding thailand and australia)), which was pretty similar to what we´d seen in the spanish side of the pyrenees. lots more windy driving later we arrived in pamplona (yes, where they hold the famous running of the bulls in july) and stayed the night there. (no sightseeing).

tues3rd: we went to france (a city we´d previously visited called bayonne) thru the pyrenees where i snow angeled :D, walked around a lot, then went to san sebastián and stayed at a really cool funky hostel. had a mini night out, and then glad to sleeeeep!

weds4th: arrived home, officially moved into my new place (but not flatmates yet because they´re at home/travelling).

thursday? hehehe i slept alllll day. only got up to get bread, and move to the couch where i queued up 6 albums and listened to them all, just chilling out. very cool.

yesterday was more of the same, and today, well, the huuuuge sales started. so, naturally, i went shopping heheheheh.

new years resolution:
shake up my life ---> i´m in the process of changing my degree..... no more Bachelor of Management Studies..... i´m going to do a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Spanish and Economics. I´ve decided I love what i´m doing here, and with a BA i have more flexibility to do what i really have wanted to do for a long time, either teach english overseas (a spanish speaking country or japan), or teach spanish in new zealand.

so thats my plan. well, which really is a no plan hehehe.

and i´m also going to buy a bike and bike around here a lot more.

ok, wow, i´ve been on here a long time.
home time!
adiós!
